The Metro underground system is the most convenient way to get to and from the airport into Newcastle and Sunderland city centres, with the Airport Metro station located adjacent to the terminal building. Frequent bus services connect the airport with Eldon Square bus concourse in central Newcastle.

The airport is situated on the A696, which links up with the A1. Taxis are available outside the terminal building (ph: 0191 214 4308). Short- and long-term parking is available, the latter connected with the terminal by a 24-hour shuttle service (pre-book: + 44 (0) 191 214 4341).
