Plymouth City Airport Airport Parking

Plymouth City Airport is only a mere three and a half miles from the city center of Devon, England and was originally opened back in 1925. It was actually Prince Edward the VIII who received the honour of the official opening.

The airport is currently owned and operated by Sutton Harbour Holdings Ltd and is a Plymouth based company that also owns Air Southwest.

Comparatively speaking the airport holds a low amount of volume compared to major international airports such as London-Heathrow and London-Gatwick. Last year there were only 60,000 passengers that passed through the terminal.

Also with the addition of Air Southwest there have been several new flights added to the itinerary including flights to Cork, Glsgow, Newcastle, Dublin, and Chambery.

The airport also served as a temporary base for the Royal Air Force during bad weather. There are times when fog is so heavy that the flights have to be diverted to other destinations such as Exeter or Newquay.
